Nizwa even won the award of "Organization of Arab Cities". Sur played a leading role in trade between Oman, East Africa, and India. But at the same time it houses one of the most interesting museums of the country. It is the Sur Maritime Museum, which acquaints the visitors with the history of shipbuilding.
